Our Philosophy
A Small Program With High Standards
Pampered Feline is a home-based Maine Coon cattery in Northern Virginia. We breed selectively, with limited litters, careful pairings, and hands-on care from birth. Every kitten leaves with a health guarantee, a written contract, and a family that knows their name.
Our kittens are raised underfoot from day one, with DNA-tested parents screened for the conditions that matter in the breed, and temperaments selected for confidence and steady company.
Our Program
Meet the Parents
European Championship Bloodlines · CFA Registered
Each breeding cat is selected for temperament, health, and balanced European type. We prefer lines known for bone, structure, strong muzzles, and clean profiles. Color and coat are secondary to what the cat is.

Aedion
Black Silver Shaded
Aedion is our foundation sire and the heart of our program. He is deeply affectionate, endlessly patient, and completely at ease with children, other cats, and household chaos. He follows his people from room to room, greets every visitor like an old friend, and has never met a lap he didn't want to occupy. His temperament sets the tone for every kitten we produce.

Rowan
Silver Shaded Tabby
Rowan is a gentle giant in every sense. He is calm, affectionate, and wonderfully tolerant, the kind of cat who settles beside you without being asked and stays as long as you'll have him. He is exceptional with children and adapts easily to new people and environments.

Feyra
Black Tortie with Tabby Markings, Polydactyl
Feyra is everything a Maine Coon queen should be. She is warm, social, and openly affectionate with everyone she meets. She raises her kittens with the same gentle confidence she brings to every interaction, and her kittens are handled daily from birth. Children adore her. She adores them back.

Our Standards
Health, Ethics, and Care
We hold ourselves to a transparent standard. Every decision in our program starts with the health and welfare of our cats.
Genetic Testing
We DNA-test our breeding cats for the conditions most relevant to Maine Coons.
- HCM Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The most common heart disease in cats. We screen for the known genetic marker.
- SMA Spinal muscular atrophy. A neuromuscular condition. We test to ensure no affected kittens are produced.
- PKDef Pyruvate kinase deficiency. An enzyme disorder that can lead to anemia. We screen all breeding cats.
Our health testing program goes beyond the industry standard. Both parents in every litter receive echocardiographic screening by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist, repeated annually for males and biennially for females. This cardiac ultrasound detects structural heart changes that DNA tests cannot, since HCM in Maine Coons involves over 100 genetic variants, only one of which has an available DNA test. In addition to cardiac screening, all breeding cats receive a full Wisdom Panel genetic health screen covering 50 heritable conditions. Every kitten leaves with documentation of both parents' test results.
Heart and Joint Health
DNA testing catches genetic markers. Ongoing monitoring catches what genetics alone cannot.
Hearts are monitored by cardiac ultrasound as cats mature. We track results over time and adjust breeding decisions based on findings.
Hip assessments are part of our evaluation process. Maine Coons are a large breed, and joint health matters for long-term quality of life.
Daily Care
Our cats live indoors in a clean, enriched environment. They receive a balanced diet formulated for the nutritional needs of Maine Coons.
We limit litters per queen to protect their health and ensure each kitten gets the attention it deserves. Rest periods between litters are non-negotiable.
Ethical Practices
- We do not declaw and require adopters to agree to the same.
- Retired breeding cats are placed in carefully selected pet homes where they can live out their years in comfort.
- We work with a feline-friendly veterinarian who understands breed-specific needs.
- Every kitten is sold with a written contract that protects the cat first.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are located in Northern Virginia.
Do you ship kittens?
We do not ship kittens as air cargo. Kittens travel with a professional flight nanny in-cabin, or can be picked up in person at our Northern Virginia location. Flight nanny fees vary by destination and are the buyer's responsibility. We serve families nationwide. Contact us to discuss transport options for your location.
When do kittens go home?
Kittens go home at 12 weeks of age. This allows time for proper socialization, vaccines, and development.
How are kittens socialized?
Kittens are raised in our home with daily hands-on interaction from birth. They are exposed to household sounds, people, and gentle handling throughout their first weeks.
Do you offer breeding rights?
All kittens are sold on a spay/neuter contract as pet-only companions unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to purchase. Breeding rights are available on a case-by-case basis to approved CFA or TICA registered catteries with documented health testing programs. Breeding rights kittens are priced separately. Contact us to discuss.
What does a kitten cost?
Pricing is tiered by color rarity and polydactyl status. Standard pet kittens start at $3,600. Rare color kittens (silver, smoke, shaded) are $4,000. Polydactyl kittens are $4,200. Rare color polydactyl kittens are $4,500. A $400 non-refundable deposit secures your reservation and is applied to the purchase price.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Zelle and bank wire transfer. A $400 non-refundable deposit is due upon signing your purchase agreement. The remaining balance is due one week before your kitten goes home.
Why do Maine Coon kittens cost $3,600 to $4,500?
Breeding Maine Coons the right way is expensive. The national average for a well-bred Maine Coon kitten in the U.S. is around $4,000, with most reputable breeders charging $3,500 to $7,500 for pet kittens from European lines. Our pricing reflects what goes into each kitten before it ever goes home. Both parents receive cardiac ultrasounds by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist, not just a DNA swab. Those echocardiograms cost $300 to $550 per scan and are repeated annually or biennially for every breeding cat. On top of that, every cat in our program receives a Wisdom Panel genetic health screen covering 50+ conditions. We maintain CFA registration, European championship bloodlines, and a small program with limited litters and hands-on care from birth. Kittens priced below $1,000 are almost always scams or backyard operations with no health testing, no pedigree, and no support after sale. If a price looks too good to be true, it is. We price by coat rarity and polydactyly, not by sex. Every kitten gets the same health testing, socialization, veterinary care, and contract protections regardless of gender.
What is included with my kitten?
Every Pampered Feline kitten goes home with a veterinary health certificate, full vaccination records, both parents' health testing documentation (HCM echocardiogram results and Wisdom Panel genetic reports), a signed purchase agreement, a kitten care guide, a sample of their current food, transition litter, a familiar toy or blanket, and a personality assessment card describing your kitten's temperament. CFA pedigree papers are provided after you submit proof of spay or neuter from your veterinarian.
Do you have a contract? What does it cover?
Yes. Every kitten is sold with a written purchase agreement that protects the kitten first. The contract covers spay/neuter requirements (by 10 months for both sexes), indoor-only housing, no declawing, first right of refusal if you can ever no longer keep your cat, a 72-hour veterinary exam requirement, a one-year genetic health guarantee, and vaccination guidance. CFA registration papers are withheld until we receive proof of alteration from your veterinarian. A summary of our contract terms is available on our contract page. The full contract is signed at the time of deposit.
